New to JAX, I chose Carmine's based on reviews here on yelp! I am happy to report the assessments are on point. Not only is the place full of eccentricities in its decor offering much to look at, the service and food were terrific. I had the Chicago deep dish and it was wonderful reminding me of those pies Gino's puts out. Similar vibe, too. I will be back and look forward to trying their traditional pies next with thinner crust. Well played, Carmine, whoever you are.
Good pizza spot in the Jacksonville! The food was good, inside is cozy, the service was so-so...our waitress forgot about us multiple times. Parking is a little limited, but definitely worth it. I would go back and try different items on the menu.
Great atmosphere and we loved the food. We ordered the pizza fries then 2 pizzas. Everything was perfect!
First time here. Heard great things and it does live up to the hype. Feels like an old neighborhood friend. Highly recommend the Rooster wings which are massive and tender chicken wings. You can pick various sauce and the Bourbon BBQ does not disappoint. Pizza - you can select premade toppings with fun names but they only come in thin crust. Or create your own like Deep Dish which we did. Does take longer to make but enjoy your appetizers first. Surprisingly the deep dish rival that of Chicago's. Serves beer and seltzers. Tip: can get hot inside during summer because of weak AC and not a lot of ceiling fans. Prepare to sweat your ass off while enjoying good food. Cheers.
Love that all day long you can order a slice. Not only that but the slices are huge and taste very good. Service was attentive but not annoying. The funky decor was so fun. I want to go back and try the Chicago Deep Dish.
Cute joint, it's been here a minute and seems to have a lot of character. The place was packed. The service is very friendly and pretty speedy for how busy they are. The cheese curds aka Cosmic Collisions are delish. I ordered a personal deep dish - Isabella - it came out within 20 min (I was warned it can take 30+). It was scrumptious, cheesy and delicious. But one slice in I was done hehe. Take out for days. Recommend a visit, great version of Chicago deep dish pizza!
This has been a long awaited visit! I've heard so many good things about Carmines and I finally got to experience it for myself. Literally everything was good from beginning to end. Our server was great. I don't remember her name but she was really pleasant and made my little one laugh so that was an added bonus. The food was great. Prompt, hot, fresh. We got Cajun ranch and garlic parm wings, pizza slices (various toppings added) a meatball sub, butter noodles, spaghetti and fried zucchini. Literally everything was great. Definitely will be back.
Love this place. Family enjoyed a great experience recently. Excellent food and service as always.
I have heard tons of great things about this place and I've been meaning to go for months. I'm happy to report it absolutely deserves the hype! I placed an order for pickup and it was ready in less than 30 minutes during lunch on a Saturday. I got the 10" New York style with pineapple and my mom got the 10" New York style with feta and black olives. Both of our pizzas were cooked to absolute perfection. The crust is thicker than a classic slice you get on the street in New York, but still absolutely delicious. I would compare the thickness to Papa John's pizza. You could tell the cheese they use is super high quality and there wasn't that layer of grease you get on some pizzas. Generous amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings! This place is an easy five stars and I'll definitely be returning to try their Chicago style.
This is a hidden gem. Apparently it has been there a long time but I have never heard of it. Parking is pretty limited so if you see a spot on the street you might just grab it. When we walked in we were greetet by interesting art and signs everywhere promoting positive vibes. Our server came right away to take our drink orders, I think most people that come in are regulars as she was almost pushy to take our order. She did give us some time and was helpful when we asked questions. I am a big fan of deep dish Chicago pizza and was a bit disappointed that they only offer 1 size and that is 10 inches. There were 3 of us so we ordered a couple of apps to balance it out. First we had the Cosmic collision. This is perfectly fried cheese curds served with a marinara sauce. It was a mountain of cheese curds, no way one person could eat the whole basket. They had that perfect pop when you chew them that is expected in Wisconsin. Next we had the Pesto Change-O. A cheese bread with a variety of veggies and pesto sauce. The bread itself was like a very soft hoagie roll, toated perfectly. This came with a red sauce on the side but was so good you really didn't need it. Next came the main event, the reason we were here. The Deep dish "Home on the range "pizza. this is 1- inches around, almost 3 inches thick and nothing but goodness. If you have never had this style of pizza imagine the dough formed into a deep dish pan, the "toppings" (filling really) layered into this dough then smothered in cheese and sauce. I do not know how anyone could finish more than one slice. This is my favorite was to eat pizza and I am glad I found somewhere local that can make this wonderful variety. I will be back for sure.
